OmeGard Vegan softgel capsules are completely plant-based, and are produced to the highest quality standards.

OmeGard Vegan capsules contain oil from the micro-algae Schizochytrium sp., which is grown under sterile conditions. This oil is 100% vegetable, and rich in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA.

This distinguishes this oil from all other vegetable alternatives. Although there are vegetable oils (flaxseed oil, borage oil) that contain omega-3 fatty acids, these fatty acids are ALA and SDA, both of which have yet to be converted into EPA and DHA in the body. This conversion is usually very difficult.

The cultivation of the alga Schizochytrium that produces EPA and DHA itself is therefore a major step forward, so that we are no longer dependent on fish oil.

This makes OmeGard Vegan a complete and vegetable alternative to fish oil, and a breakthrough for vegetable essential omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are healthy, which is why we like to give this to our companion animals. Fish are traditionally the main suppliers of omega-3 fatty acids. But how we treat fish before that is far from healthy!

Every year, nearly 100 billion kilos are fished from the ocean for consumption. Today there is no fish stock that is not under pressure from overfishing. As far back as 2006, a paper in the journal Science predicted that all commercial fish stocks in the world's oceans would collapse by 2048 if the rate of overfishing remained unchanged.

Overfishing not only rapidly exterminates the fish, it also causes serious damage to other marine species. Trawler fishing, a method of fishing that involves pulling giant funnel-shaped trawl nets behind boats, does not catch fish and shrimp, but also countless other marine creatures such as sea turtles, dolphins, seabirds, sharks and other animals. Most of it is bycatch, such as dolphins and turtles, that are not used.

We are happy to contribute to the maintenance of a healthy fish population and a liveable ocean. That is why we would like to draw attention to the omega-3 fatty acids from algae cultivation. These omega-3 fatty acids are identical to what fish provide us, but grown under controlled conditions in high-quality installations on land.

Omega-3 fatty acids from algae cultivation are the future, and offer us the opportunity to deal sustainably with the oceans and fish that live in them.
